Diamond Bus working in partnership to improve services

15/01/2016

Diamond have been working with Worcestershire County Council to improve the quality and standard of bus provision provided in the Redditch area.

Diamond have already been in discussions with the Cabinet Member with Responsibility for Public Transport and agreed a series of measures which, in partnership with him, will resolve the challenges we have faced over the last few months.

Over the last year Diamond Bus has made considerable investment in Redditch including enhanced service frequencies, improved links to vital services, such as the hospital, new vehicles and improved driver training.

The investment in the vehicle fleet means that it is significantly more modern than it was three years ago when Diamond Bus amalgamated with First in the Redditch area. The fleet is now all low floor (for disabled access), and has much better emissions standards. This provides a cleaner and greener environment for the whole Redditch community.  We are committed to continue to work to improve the quality of service provision we make throughout 2016.

As part of this commitment we will be bringing into service in Redditch, from Spring 2016 onwards, a fleet of 8 brand new large single deck buses to operate on the 57/58 service, where there has undoubtedly been an increase in passenger traffic in recent months.

We are committed to providing the network of bus services in Redditch that customers need and can be proud of.

To achieve this we are developing a partnership approach with all stakeholders. We have a series of meetings arranged with local politicians where we will explain in detail the issues that have been raised.

In 2016 we will also set up a customer panel through which local bus users will be able to contribute to the shape of service delivery in conjunction with the Diamond Bus management team.
